Chinese Potato / Siru kizhangu Curry :

I learnt this dish from my ammuma , i love❤ her cooking and whenever i go to my ammuma's house in munnar , she will cook different dishes for me . I wonder how she cooks so yummy ! and this is one among them .

Ingredients :

                1.Chinese Potato    - 1/4 kg
                     2. Mustard Seeds      - 1 tsp
                     3.Shallots                  -  10
                    4.Dry red chilly        - 7
                    5.Cumin seeds           - 1.5 spoon
                    6.Turmeric powder    -  1/2 spoon
                    7.Coconut Pieces      -  1/2 cup ( small cup )

How to do it ?

(✌ There are some easy methods followed by the people,  to remove the skin of this potato when the amount of potato is more ; ie-  put the potatoes in a cloth and just hit it on the floor , the skin will get removed and you can remove the left over skin using knives easily.)

Firstly remove the skin of the chinese potato  (which is otherwise called as siru kizhangu and koorka)and  then cut it in to pieces , then boil it with some salt . Meanwhile grind the red chilly , coconut pieces along with the cumin seeds and 6-7 shallots until it turns in to a fine paste / masala . Then after the koorka gets boiled , take a pan , pour some oil then add mustard seeds , and the remaining shallots ( finely chopped )and now add the boiled koorka and then add the grinded masala to it . Add turmeric powder and salt , then let it boil for some more time until the gravy becomes thicker and the oil comes up to the surface .

Hope you will enjoy this recipe .

capsicum gravy✌

When i say capsicum gravy , some might wonder , " what ! capsicum gravy " but if you taste it once , i'm damn sure you would love❤ it. One day , as usually i asked my mother " Amma what's the breakfast today " and my mom said , Dal rice with capsicum , and i was really shocked , because i've never heard about capsicum gravy before , but when i tasted it , i was like " OMG , i've missed tasting capsicum all these years , it's so yummy. "

I tried this dish for the first time , and it came out well. So i want you all to taste and enjoy this dish , "Don't Miss Capsicum." This will make a better combination with chapati and  dal rice ...

There are yellow and red colour capsicums too  , but i could buy only green capsicums . If you are a person who loves to eat spicy foods like me , you will enjoy it ,  at the same time  if you are a person who will start to run on  hearing the word " spicy " (like , how one of my friend jenny☺always does ) may be you can reduce the amount of chilly or chilly powder. But capsicums are not that spicy !

INGREDIENTS :

                           1. Capsicum -  1
                           2. Mustard seeds  - 1/2 tsp
                           3. Onion        - 1 ( finely chopped )
                           4. Tomato      - 1 ( finely chopped )
                           5. Green Chilly - 4
                           6. Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
                           7. Chilly powder       - 1/2 tsp
                           8. Asafoetida Powder   -  1 pinch
                           9. Salt             - ( to your taste )
                          10. Tamarind water - 2 spoons

HOW TO DO IT ?

Heat a pan , pour some oil , then add some  mustard seeds and let it crackle , then add  finely chopped onion , then chilly , and saute it until it becomes golden brown . Secondly add finely chopped tomato , then saute it for another 2 min . Now add the chopped capsicum and add  turmeric and chilly powder , fry it for 4- 5 min , now add salt ( to your taste ) followed by asafoetida powder. Then , pour 100 ml of water and let it boil until  the oil  rises up to the surface , then take the pan off from the stove and transfer it to a bowl and garnish it with coriander leaves.

Capsicum has the power to cure cancer , peptic ulcer ,menopausal problems ,cardiovascular disease and diabetes ...especially fat burning ☝ and so on...so do try capsicum and be healthy ☺
